Flat-head solid rivet is made of whole metal bar without hollow cavity or mandrel. After riveting, both ends form firm heads, creating high-strength permanent connection. Compared with blind rivets, solid rivets deliver far higher shear-resistance and anti-vibration performance, suitable for working conditions with frequent vibration and impact load. The wide flat head provides large contact area, disperses pressure and prevents sinking into soft workpiece surface. It is widely used for heavy-duty assemblies where connection reliability is critical.

Material Options & Application Environment

304 stainless steel is the most popular option for outdoor and moist environment, offering good rust-proof performance. 316 stainless steel fits coastal salt-spray conditions. Aluminum solid rivets are lightweight for aluminum-sheet joining, avoiding galvanic corrosion. Carbon-steel rivets with zinc-plated surface provide high mechanical strength at competitive cost for indoor general assemblies. Copper rivets are used for electrical-conductive requirements. You can select proper material according to load, medium and corrosion environment.

Installation Guidance & Notes

Solid rivet requires access to both sides of workpiece. Drill hole diameter should match rivet shank diameter. Place rivet through holes, support the flat head side, then hammer or press the opposite shank end to upset and form the second clinch head. Do not over-strike to avoid workpiece damage. This is a permanent fastener, non-removable after installation. For critical-load applications, carry out sample riveting test first.
